DentaL Implants
At True Smile, we offer a variety of implant options to restore your smile, ranging from single/multiple implants or fixed bridges to implant supported dentures.
The benefits of dental implants go beyond simply replacing the tooth, it restores confidence and function to your smile, it also helps to retain bone density and prevent bone loss in the areas teeth were lost, leading to long term health benefits.
Once you have implants, you need to care for them just like natural teeth with daily brushing and flossing, a healthy diet and having routine cleanings with your dental hygienist.
Implant Types
Over Dentures
Over Dentures are implant supported dentures most typically seen as "All-on-4", meaning your upper and your lower implants are supported by 4 implants on the upper arch and 4 on the lower. This is the most commonly seen method.
An alternative that we offer is called a "3-on-6", this method consists of three individual dental bridges attached to six dental implants on your upper arch and the same for your lower. This makes the individual bridges easier to repair over time, as you will not need to repair your whole denture, only sections of the bridge that needs repair.
These are permanent restoration. However, the over-denture can be removed for dental cleaning and exams.
What Factors Decide Whether You Need All-on-4 or All-on-6 Implants?
The decision between choosing all-on-4 and all-on-6 dental implants is to be made by you and your dentist and is dependent on a variety of factors, including:

-
The amount of bone you have left in your jaw. All-on-6 requires more bone than their counterparts.
-
The health of your gums. If you suffer from gum disease, it’s likely that your dentist will work out a treatment plan to increase gum health before performing implantations.
-
Which treatment is more appropriate for the number of missing teeth you have.
-
Whether your jawbone contains enough healthy bone tissue to support all-on-6 implants. If not, your dentist will likely suggest having top implants installed alongside your bottom ones, to increase jaw strength and stability enough to support bottom implants.

-
While all-on-4 dental implants are more common than all-on-6, it’s generally accepted that the latter provides greater whole-mouth stability and more even distribution for biting and chewing of food.
